Hello, fellow educators! I am a Junior here at The College with a double major in Psychology and Art History. It is my third year working with CPK, and it is my pleasure to be your Student Director and help guide you to find your passion in education and tutoring-- whatever form that takes. This year I am helping to curate an Exhibit at the Muscarelle Museum of Art, and next semester I will be doing psychology research in memory! I am part of Students for University Advancement, and Alpha Phi Omega-- both which allow me to have an outlet to give back to the community.

Hello from CPK! We are excited about your interest in education and our program. I am a senior at William & Mary majoring in Geology and Government. I am always excited to talk about science education, students with special needs, rocks, and anything else, really. Come chat during my office hours about how your tutoring experience is going.

Annie Sadler

Hi! My name is Annie Sadler. I'm a sophomore at the College majoring in Neuroscience with a minor in Public Health. I love working with kids and I hope to work in Pediatrics one day. This is my second semester with CPK. For me, the best part is forming connections with the students. It is great to see them start to understand the material and see the impact you are making in the classroom, but even better when you start to impact their life. On campus, aside from CPK, I am the Flat Hat Opinions Editor and a member of Phi Sigma Pi, the honor fraternity. I am so excited for CPK this year and I hope you all have great experiences with it as well.

Shiva Ambardar

Hey, I'm Shiva and I am a junior here at W&M. I am a Biology major and a Psychology minor and I'm interested in being a doctor one day. This is my second year tutoring for CPK and I hope it will be the best one yet. I have always been interested in tutoring and I love building lasting relationships with the kids and acting as a good role model. As Site Leader, I hope to help all the kids grow and learn mentally and emotionally. I’m looking forward to a year that I hope will be fun and educational for both me and the kids!

Gloria Cho

Hello! My name is Gloria Cho, and I’m a sophomore at the College. I’ve accrued numerous teaching experiences over the previous eight years of teaching/tutoring. I’ve interned in Mexico as a music and English instructor for elementary school students, taught various math classes through the Fairfax Collegiate Summer Program, and instructed Korean classes at a local community church. Outside of CPK, I enjoy playing rugby and drinking iced vanilla lattes.   Nonetheless, nothing compares to my experience at CPK. It has become one of my passions – fostering relationships, recognizing potentials, developing good academic habits, and filling educational gaps (amongst many other gaps). My goals as a Site Leader are not only to be the bridge between CPK and the tutoring site, but also to ensure safe and rewarding tutoring sessions for CPK tutors and to help students recognize that tutoring is much more than simply teaching academic material. I’m so excited for the upcoming year, and I hope you are, too!

Zack Linick

Hi! My name is Zack and I am a senior at W&M. I transferred to W&M in the fall of 2014 and have found my niche with CPK. This is my third semester being involved with tutoring and mentoring in schools around the Williamsburg area and my second semester with CPK. I have loved my time tutoring with CPK because working with the kids is often highly rewarding, especially younger elementary students, whom I am particularly fond of. I am a psychology major and am extremely passionate about the intersection between physical and mental health, specifically as it relates to exercise and contemplative practices such as meditation, and their combined influence on overall wellbeing. In my free time I love to travel and see the world, play violin, compete in powerlifting, serve others, bicycle, snowboard, and take long walks on the beach (seriously ). I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with CPK and serve the Williamsburg community. Cheers to another great year with CPK!

Graziella Covello

My name is Grace Covello, I am a senior at the college!  I transferred into William and Mary last year and started CPK as a tutor for one year.  I am a psychology major and love discussing education and how the relation between mental disorders, race, and crime play a role in the public education of our country.  To pass time I love to be out with friends or volunteering in any way!  I look forward to a great year with you all and cannot wait to start tutoring!

Sarah Horan

She is passionate about education equality, and served as a teaching assistant and swim instructor at non-profit Horizon's Greater Washington in DC. She also taught swimming for underprivileged populations in Fairfax County. At William&Mary, she runs a Girls Scout troop, and is a member of the Education Equity talks. This is her second year with CPK, as she served at both Hornsby Middle School and Toano Middle School last year. She plans to work in the education field, especially with underserved populations.

Alex Williams

My name is Alexander but most people call me Alex (no preference!). I am a Junior this year as well as a Psychology major and a Religious Studies minor. I grew up in the historic town of Fredericksburg, VA which I still call home. It is my hope that as a CPK Site Leader I can be a part of the effort to give kids the resources and influence they need to succeed in the classroom. With my other passion for mental health, I hope to become a child clinical psychologist in the future and help children and adolescents work through their psychological problems. Aside from CPK, I am also involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Active Minds, and the EDM club.

Sanjana Verma

Hi everyone! My name is Sanjana Verma and I'm a junior at the college. I'm a Chemistry major with a (potential) Religious Studies minor. This is my second year with CPK, and my first as a site director. I have been tutoring with various organizations since I was a sophomore in high school, but my experience with this club has been one of the most rewarding. I'm passionate about not only helping kids gain an understanding of what is being taught in the classroom, but also forming special bonds with the students that I will always cherish. I'm extremely excited for the upcoming year with CPK and encourage everyone to sign up to tutor with us! You won't regret it!

Leslie Tucker

Picture
Leslie Tucker is a junior at William & Mary this year and a  native of the Hampton Roads area. This will be her third year tutoring with CPK and second year as a site leader. Prior to her involvement with CPK tutoring, she worked with first and second grade classes as a teaching assistant and student teacher through Future Teachers of America. Leslie is now pursuing a degree in Kinesiology & Health Sciences, hoping to practice physical therapy in pediatric sports medicine, as well as a Psychology major, with hopes of earning a Master’s degree in Education later in life. Outside of CPK, she enjoys teaching group fitness classes and spending time outdoors. As a CPK site leader, Leslie hopes to bring awareness of the surrounding communities to the W&M campus, while investing in the education and future development of the collective WJCC community.

Cristyn Filla

Cristyn is an anthropology major and a senior at the college. This is her second year volunteering with CPK. She especially enjoys tutoring English and literacy for elementary students. After graduation she plans to go into a career in humanitarian aid. Currently she is applying to be an education volunteer in the Peace Corps. Aside from CPK Cristyn is an epeeist on the William and Mary fencing team and a co-leader for William and Mary Haiti Compact.  Outside of school Cristyn loves spending time with her roommate and her younger sister who also attends the college. While at home she spends most of her time reading good books, walking her dogs, and doting on her cat.
